Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Maintenance & Engineering Lead, the Electrical and Instrumentation Technician delivers essential technical support and expertise to the Maintenance & Engineering division at Angelini Pharma US. This role encompasses mechanical, electrical, and automation assistance within a regulated manufacturing environment.

This position operates on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities

The role demands intermediate to advanced proficiency in electrical principles, systems, components, troubleshooting, basic PLC programming, and automation capabilities. The technician is expected to handle various tasks, some of which may be non-routine, requiring sound judgment and interpretation to effectively support production and packaging operations.

  • Utilize technical knowledge to serve as the primary technical resource for power and automation systems, including setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting; offer recommendations for corrective actions and long-term solutions.
  • Address production-related electrical and automated equipment issues as they arise.
  • Carry out mechanical and electrical preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with electrical/control and mechanical systems, equipment, and components.
  • Assist in the installation and enhancement of new equipment.
  • Install mechanical and electrical components/wiring systems and ensure their proper operation.
  • Conduct instrument calibration for the facility.
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) while executing work schedules and providing operational support.
  • Perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two to three years of experience in a technical or manufacturing setting.
  • Technical degree in Electrical/Controls or a related engineering/technical discipline.
  • Operational knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety protocols and inspection procedures, as well as proficiency in using electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeter, clamp-on meter, megger).
  • Intermediate understanding of PLC programming, schematic wiring, ladder logic, and P&ID process diagrams.

Required Skills

  • Experience with RSLogix 5 and 500.
  • Proficiency in Studio 5000.
  • Knowledge of Factory Talk.
  • Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers.
  • Understanding of servo systems and 1394 GML.
  • Experience with AC & DC drives.
  • Knowledge of HMI controls (e.g., Panelview, Wonderware).
  • Experience with vision inspection systems (e.g., Systech).
  • Familiarity with ultrasonic sealing equipment.
  • Basic understanding of facility utility systems (e.g., chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, dust collectors, air handling units).
  • Basic knowledge of converting and packaging equipment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Plant's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Able to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and logic schematics.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis (problem identification, analysis, creativity, and application of corrective actions).
