Position Overview
Under the guidance of the Maintenance & Engineering Lead, the Electrical and Instrumentation Technician offers specialized technical support to the Maintenance & Engineering team at Angelini Pharma US. This role encompasses mechanical, electrical, and automation assistance within a regulated environment.
This position operates on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.
Key Responsibilities
The role demands intermediate to advanced knowledge of electrical principles, systems, components, troubleshooting techniques, basic PLC programming, and automation capabilities. The technician is expected to handle various tasks, some of which may be non-routine, requiring sound judgment and interpretation to effectively manufacture and package products.
The individual in this role will:
- Utilize technical expertise to serve as the primary resource for support on power and automation systems, including their operation, setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting; offer recommendations and solutions for corrective actions.
- Address production-related electrical and automated equipment issues as they arise.
- Carry out mechanical and electrical preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Troubleshoot electrical, control, and mechanical systems, as well as their components.
- Assist with the installation and upgrading of new equipment.
- Install and verify the functionality of mechanical and electrical components and wiring systems.
- Conduct instrument calibration across the site.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) during operational support and work execution.
- Complete additional tasks and special assignments as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two to three years of experience in a technical or manufacturing setting.
- Technical degree in Electrical/Controls or a related engineering/technical discipline.
- Operational knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Familiarity with electrical safety standards and inspections, as well as the use of electrical testing tools (e.g., multimeter, clamp-on meter, megger).
- Intermediate understanding of PLC programming, schematic wiring, ladder logic, and P&ID process diagrams.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in RSLogix 5 and 500.
- Experience with Studio 5000 and Factory Talk.
- Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Servo Systems.
- Familiarity with AC & DC Drives and HMI Controls (e.g., Panelview, Wonderware).
- Understanding of vision inspection systems and ultrasonic sealing equipment.
- Basic knowledge of facility utility systems (e.g., chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, dust collectors, air handling units).
- Basic understanding of converting and packaging equipment operations is preferred.
- Knowledge of the Plant's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Able to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and logic schematics.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Experience in Root Cause Analysis (problem identification, analysis, creativity, and application of corrective actions).
