POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for a dedicated and proficient Advanced Practice Provider (APP) specializing in Adult Clinical Nutritional Support and Endobariatric care. This position focuses on providing comprehensive medical services for adults who require nutritional interventions, endobariatric procedures, and management of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). The APP will engage in patient evaluations, formulate and execute personalized nutritional strategies in collaboration with our licensed dietitian, and deliver expert care in enteral nutrition. Key responsibilities encompass conducting physical assessments, managing enteral feeding systems, collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, and supporting our patients with MASLD and endobariatric needs. Additionally, the role includes educating patients on dietary adjustments and remaining informed about the latest advancements in nutritional and endobariatric practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Evaluation:
    • Conduct thorough physical assessments and patient rounds.
    • Determine patients' nutritional requirements and design customized nutritional plans.
    • Diagnose and manage patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), including treatment planning and ongoing care.
  • Management of Enteral Nutrition:
    • Insert, troubleshoot, and replace enteral feeding tubes (nasogastric, nasoenteric, gastrostomy, jejunostomy).
    • Ensure proper and sterile placement of feeding tubes.
    • Identify and address issues related to tube performance, patient tolerance, and potential complications.
    • Oversee transitions between various feeding tube types based on patient requirements.
  • Patient Education:
    • Provide guidance to patients on dietary changes, particularly concerning MASLD and nutritional support.
    • Track patient progress and offer continuous support.
  • Collaboration:
    • Coordinate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes.
    • Work alongside interventional radiology to offer treatment options and procedures.
  • Ongoing Education:
    • Stay abreast of developments in nutritional and endobariatric practices, as well as MASLD management.
    • Engage in continuous education to enhance expertise in enteral nutrition, endobariatric techniques, and MASLD.
    • The Division of Gastroenterology and the Department of Medicine will provide educational resources and support for professional development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from an AMA accredited Physician Assistant Program or a baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure standards in Pennsylvania.
  • National Certification in Pennsylvania or another state with reciprocity and licensure to practice in Pennsylvania.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Relevant experience is preferred.
