The Financial Aid Department is in search of a skilled professional to take on the role of Financial Aid Advisor.

West Valley College is located in a serene, park-like environment, providing a supportive atmosphere that is highly regarded by students and staff alike.

This role is essential for executing various technical tasks related to financial assistance, institutional scholarships, and associated programs. Responsibilities include evaluating and assembling comprehensive financial aid packages and ensuring the maintenance and updates of relevant software systems.

Employment Details:

This is a full-time position, requiring 37.5 hours per week, for a duration of 12 months. The work schedule may include some evening or weekend hours as necessary. This position is part of the West Valley-Mission Classified Employees Association (WVMCEA), Office, Technical & Business Services Employee Unit.

Work Location: West Valley College.

Compensation and Benefits:

Expected Salary Range:

  • $6,412.75-$6,980.67 monthly (based on WVMCEA Salary Schedule, Range 57, Steps A-C).

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a combination of experience and education that demonstrates the necessary knowledge and abilities. A typical pathway to meet these qualifications includes:

  • Experience: Two years of relevant financial aid experience.
  • Education: An Associate's degree from an accredited institution, with coursework in accounting, business, general education, or a related field.

Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.Preferred Qualifications:

  • Utilizing advanced computer systems for data processing and reporting; ensuring accuracy in financial and statistical data.
  • Monitoring and resolving issues related to automated financial aid systems.
  • Collaborating with instructional staff to ensure timely communication of new programs and certificates.
  • Maintaining a calendar of financial aid events and deadlines; performing reconciliations of assigned programs.
