In the role of Chief People Officer at 1stDibs, you will report directly to our General Counsel and oversee the People function, which encompasses all facets of the employee lifecycle and the well-being of our team members. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organization and within the People team to define and advocate for People-centric strategies tailored to our dynamic and global enterprise. Your primary objective will be to ensure that 1stDibs attracts and retains the finest talent to achieve our business objectives by delivering an exceptional experience across our People functions: Employee Experience, Facilities, People Business Partnership, People Operations, and Talent Acquisition.

This hybrid position is based in New York, NY (3 days/week in-office).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and advocate for the company's People-related strategies, focusing on DEIB, employee engagement, compensation, learning & development, organizational design, and workforce distribution.
  • Set goals and success metrics for the People team.
  • Serve as a manager, thought partner, and mentor to a skilled People team as they carry out daily People functions.
  • Engage directly with the executive team and leaders across the organization to provide guidance on People-related issues.
  • Act as a liaison for information flow between the business and the People team.
  • Identify external resources, such as consultants and agencies, to supplement internal People capabilities.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in the People function, including 5+ years in a leadership role within a technology company.
  • Proven expertise in at least two of the following areas: Compensation, Employee Experience, People Business Partnership, People Operations, and Talent Acquisition.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with senior leadership, including experience in C-level executive coaching.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset towards People matters, with a track record of innovating policies and practices to enhance the employee experience.
  • A collaborative approach to team dynamics, encouraging contributions and fostering engagement to achieve optimal organizational results.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state (primarily New York) employment laws.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with a deep appreciation for the impact of effective communication.
  • An analytical mindset combined with an empathetic approach to People-related functions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with public company matters, including equity compensation and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • Experience advising on People matters for a distributed workforce, particularly for companies with employees in various international locations.
