Immunization Health Education and Promotion

Marion County Health and Human Services is seeking a highly motivated and bilingual Health Educator to join our team in promoting immunizations for kids and adults. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our Immunization Coordinator and Program Nurse Manager to develop and implement a comprehensive health education and promotion plan for our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing immunization health education and promotion events for children and adult populations.
  • Develop and implement outreach activities outlined in the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) state immunization work plan.
  • Coordinate with the immunization coordinator and staff to schedule outreach and vaccination events based on identified priority populations.
  • Oversee the setup and execution of outreach events, ensuring all aspects, such as presentations, vaccination stations, and interactive activities, are effectively managed.
  • Communicate identified program needs to the supervisor, immunization coordinator, and clinic RN.
  • Develop and implement detailed plans for outreach events focused on vaccine education, including scheduling, venue selection, logistical arrangements, and coordinating with community partners and stakeholders.
  • Attend community outreach events to promote immunizations in the community.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local healthcare providers, community organizations, schools, and other relevant entities to enhance collaboration and support for vaccine education and outreach initiatives.
  • Engage with community members in tandem with the Communications Coordinator to promote upcoming outreach events using various communication methods, such as social media, flyers, and community meetings, to increase awareness and attendance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with specialization in education, public health, health, nursing, sociology, psychology, or social sciences.
  • One year of related experience, which may include an internship.
  • Fluent bilingual Spanish/English or Russian/English skills are required.
  • Must possess a current driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable driving history.
  • Must possess, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Oregon driver's license.
  • Must possess, at time of hire, and maintain an acceptable driver's record.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position, which is eligible for overtime. Typical work schedule Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with flexibility depending upon the needs of the program or department. May be required to flex time or work additional hours on weekends or evenings to accommodate business needs.
