Position Overview:

The Catering Event Specialist II is tasked with delivering exceptional hospitality to attendees at catered functions hosted at Canterbury Park. This role is vital in ensuring that the department runs smoothly and that all catered events surpass guest expectations. The Catering Event Specialist II will embody the company's mission, vision, and values by providing unparalleled entertainment experiences and adhering to the Canterbury Way, which emphasizes our core values.

This role offers an hourly wage, supplemented by a service charge, with availability for day shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exemplify leadership qualities.
  • Maintain a high standard of hospitality and uphold a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
  • Foster a collaborative environment, boost morale, and provide constructive feedback to management.
  • Collaborate closely with Catering management and supervisory personnel to execute a variety of catered events, from large banquets to intimate gatherings.
  • Assist Catering management in addressing any last-minute client requests, including adjustments to serving times and bar setups.
  • Oversee and maintain the buffet area assigned to you.
  • Prepare banquet rooms or areas according to specifications outlined in the Banquet Event form, including buffets, dining arrangements, audio-visual requirements, etc.
  • Complete requisition forms at the conclusion of each event to facilitate preparations for the following day's activities.
  • Deliver prompt and courteous service to all guests throughout the event.
  • Ensure that all elements of the group's package are fulfilled, such as escorting the group to the winner's circle for sponsored race photographs when applicable.
  • Work in tandem with the Catering Greeter to assist based on operational needs.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in Catering and Events or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding service to guests during events.
  • Willingness to assist other departments as needed based on business requirements.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment screening, including a criminal background check and verification of work history.
  • Must obtain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.
