Position Overview

The University of Utah Health is seeking a dedicated Associate Instructor to lead fitness classes tailored for various wellness initiatives. This role primarily focuses on instructing fitness sessions for university employees through the PEAK Health and Fitness program, while also providing support for movement breaks, health fairs, and additional fitness offerings as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute evidence-based fitness programs for employee wellness classes.
  • Oversee and assess students and trainees when necessary.
  • Actively engage in other wellness initiatives related to fitness.
  • Represent the Wellness and Integrative Health department professionally to both internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in a health-related discipline is required. Candidates must exhibit strong relationship-building and communication skills, alongside a solid understanding of health and wellness principles. The ability to fulfill the essential functions of the role is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in health and fitness (e.g., ACSM, NSCA, YTT) is preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • One to three years of experience in fitness instruction.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with chronic health conditions or orthopedic issues.
