Responsibilities:

SCOPE:
Professionally greets and welcomes patients along with their friends and family. Efficiently registers and schedules appointments for patients. Answers, screens, and directs all incoming calls to the appropriate personnel, relaying messages between patients and clinical staff.

Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards, and US Oncology's Shared Values.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Welcomes patients and visitors to the clinic in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.

Checks in patients and informs clinical staff of their arrival.

Provides and explains necessary paperwork for patients to complete prior to their examination.

Collects, verifies for completeness, and files patient forms.

Updates demographic and insurance information in the system.

Collects co-pays and outstanding balances; issues receipts.

Answers, screens, and responds to routine inquiries, routes to appropriate personnel, or takes thorough messages. Pages clinic personnel as needed.

Communicates messages accurately and promptly according to established procedures.

Checks patients out after their examination. Schedules follow-up appointments in accordance with physician and/or office guidelines.

Provides patients with appointment details such as time, location, directions, instruction sheets, and other relevant information.

Records patient cancellations and missed appointments; reschedules as necessary.

Notifies appropriate staff of cancellations and makes notes in patient charts.

Provides general administrative support by organizing charts and forms.

Maintains the lobby area in a neat and orderly fashion. Ensures a sufficient supply of forms and necessary office supplies for daily operations.

Adheres to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines regarding patient records.

Performs other duties as assigned. May include typing memos and forms.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Some experience in reception or office settings is preferred. Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft (Outlook, Office Word, and Excel) is required. -Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of starting the position. -Demonstrates Adaptability: Handles daily work challenges confidently; is willing and able to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities; shows flexibility.

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:


The work environment may involve exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions typical of an oncology/hematology clinic setting.

Work will involve in-person interaction with colleagues and management and/or clients. Minimal travel by automobile to office sites may be required.
