Position Summary:

The Outpatient Clinic Healthcare Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of patient flow within the healthcare environment. This position is dedicated to providing culturally sensitive care with a focus on exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include preparing patients for their appointments, assisting with limited medical procedures, scheduling necessary diagnostic tests or consultations, maintaining accurate patient records, organizing clinic spaces, and managing supply and equipment inventories.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Efficiently schedules radiology tests and obtains necessary films and reports while preparing laboratory specimens in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assists healthcare professionals with specialized procedures and examinations as outlined in the competency checklist.
  • Collaborates with the healthcare team to coordinate and implement patient care plans, including documenting relevant patient history for clinical review.
  • Ensures that all data collected during procedures is accurately recorded in medical records and appropriate forms.
  • Maintains organized and clean examination rooms, ensuring that supply levels are adequate and completing required logs for equipment checks.
  • Performs clerical tasks such as patient greeting, registration, scheduling, insurance processing, and managing ambulatory care charges.
  • Conducts basic procedures as directed by nursing or medical staff, including vital signs and screening assessments, documenting findings in medical records.

It is essential to possess the professional, clinical, and technical competencies required for the assigned department. This job description outlines the primary functions of the role but is not exhaustive of all responsibilities. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Required Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program with completion of necessary coursework, or a Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare or science-related field, or three years of relevant experience under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a medical office setting.
Licensure and Certification:
  • Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) certification from the American Heart Association.
