Job Summary

This vacancy is for a GS-2005-6 Supply Technician Clerk located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SFLC LOGISTICS SUPPLY SUPPORT CUSTOMER SERVICE SECTION.

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Surface Forces Logistics Center, Asset Logistics Division, Baltimore, Maryland.

Responsibilities include searches for required information, reconstructing records for complex supply transactions, and providing supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts.

As a Supply Technician Clerk, you will be responsible for:

  • Backing up print, sort, and distribute material release orders and special processing requests.
  • Collecting and maintaining files of documents supporting transactions impacting the receipt of material into inventory, or status of items received at the Inventory Control Point and dropped shipped to appropriate consignee.
  • Assembling folders with contract and previous receipt transactions for inspectors, for items received from vendors/contractors and pending inspection.
  • Verifying inspector notations and due ins and posting items into inventory.
  • Responding to requests for documentation in support of audits and statistical samples.
  • Confirming delivery of material delivered on campus.
Requirements

Key Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Must be registered or exempt from the Selective Service.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation.
  • This is a Bargaining Unit position.
  • Time in Grade requirement must be met by the closing date of the vacancy.
Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-06 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the federal sector.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Specialized experience must include the following:

  • Experience processing supply transactions.
  • Using an automated supply system to conduct searches or process transactions.
  • Performing records functions in inventory, storage, cataloging, and receipt and control processes.

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.

This position does not have a positive education requirement.
