Job Overview:

The Financial Systems Manager is tasked with executing a variety of analytical finance responsibilities within the Finance and Budget Department. This role is pivotal in sustaining, enhancing, and personalizing all financial systems utilized, including Workday. The incumbent will engage in generating financial reports, designing and documenting system modifications, streamlining workflows, and proposing suitable recommendations that will enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensure the optimal performance of all financial software systems, which may encompass installation, customization, development, maintenance, and upgrades of applications, systems, and modules.

2. Provide technical assistance, troubleshooting, and support to users of financial software systems.

3. Collaborate with senior leadership and staff to pinpoint system enhancements and improvements; suggest and execute solutions.

4. Manage user permissions, access, personalization, and similar operational settings for financial software systems.

5. Develop custom functions and documentation, including automated queries, filters, macros, and reports.

6. Compile or assist in acquiring intricate data reports, summaries, and logs for senior executives and Finance and Budget personnel.

7. Act as the primary representative and liaison between Finance and Budget, information services, external vendors, and other stakeholders for financial software systems design and implementation initiatives.

8. Ensure compliance of systems with data security and privacy regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:
  • Software maintenance, design, programming, and management.
  • Administration and management of finance-related systems and databases.
  • Principles and best practices in financial report development and generation.
  • Desktop systems, client-server, and web-based finance/business applications.
Skills to:
  • Communicate reporting requirements and technical issues effectively to staff.
  • Utilize analytical skills to create technical reports and recommendations.
  • Program and maintain financial applications software proficiently.
  • Establish and sustain effective working relationships.
  • Deliver effective communication through presentations, both orally and in writing.
Qualifications:

Training and/or Education:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, information systems, finance, or a related field.

Experience:

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in business software applications, report generation for senior officials, demonstrated use of various sophisticated financial applications, financial systems analysis, and financial reporting.

FLSA Status:

Exempt

Compensation:

Pay rate: $80,371 - $86,159 annually

Grade 725, Merit full-time position, 35 hours per week

This position allows for telework, meaning the employee may be able to work from home or another offsite location for part of the workweek, but they are still required to come into the office regularly. This arrangement is at the supervisor's discretion and may change based on business needs.
