Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health and Science Charter School is seeking a certified, or on the pathway to, and experienced special education teacher to provide instruction to our middle school students in the areas of Science and Math.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring that they receive a comprehensive and inclusive education.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver engaging and effective lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, including technology integration, to promote student learning and engagement.
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly, using data-driven decision making to inform teaching practices.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
- Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic growth.
- Stay up-to-date with best practices in special education and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related field; Master's Degree preferred.
- NYS certification in Special Education or on the pathway to certification.
- At least 2 years of experience teaching special education in a middle school setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to use technology to support instruction and student learning.
