Job Description

At Uncommon Schools NYC, we are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Middle School Science Teacher to join our team. As a Science Teacher, you will play a critical role in preparing our students for academic success and fostering a love for science in the classroom.

Responsibilities

As a Middle School Science Teacher, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing a rigorous, NGSS-aligned curriculum that promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
  • Creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement, creativity, and curiosity.
  • Assessing student progress and adjusting instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives that promote academic excellence and social-emotional growth.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as science, mathematics, or education.
  • Experience working with students in grades 6-8, preferably in an urban school setting.
  • Strong content knowledge and pedagogical skills in science education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
