Cheese Department Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cheese Department Manager to join our team at Murray's Cheese Shop. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for creating a unique customer cheese experience that embodies the food passion, cheese knowledge, interactive customer service, team leadership, and industry-leading merchandising that is uniquely Murray's Cheese.
Key Responsibilities- Create and Maintain the Murray's Cheese Experience: Develop and implement strategies to create an engaging and interactive customer experience, including ongoing product education, effective cross-selling, merchandising, pushing, and promoting designated products.
- Lead and Develop a High-Performing Team: Recruit, train, and develop a team of knowledgeable and friendly staff who are fully trained in Murray's operations and products.
- Ensure Operational Excellence: Maintain a high level of operational efficiency, ensuring that all Kroger and Murray's policies, operating standards, and procedures are communicated effectively, maintained, and followed at all times.
- Manage Inventory and Orders: Place orders and maintain inventory levels to ensure that products are always available to meet customer demand.
- Drive Sales and Revenue Growth: Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and revenue growth, including setting up weekly in-store selling events and promoting designated products.
- Control Labor and Shrink Expenses: Effectively control labor expenses through appropriate scheduling and minimize shrink and waste by following Murray's and Kroger's best practices.
- Meet Budgetary Goals: Meet and/or exceed budgetary goals for the Murray's Cheese Shop.
- Supervise and Coach Direct Reports: Supervise and coach direct reports on the performance of their duties, complete performance reviews, and provide feedback to direct reports.
- Management Experience: Minimum of 2 years of management experience in the food retail industry or a related field.
- Culinary Degree: A 2-year culinary degree or equivalent experience.
- Food Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of food safety procedures and regulations.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
