Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Nurse I to join our Maternal Health team at Suffolk County, NY. In this role, you will provide public health nursing services to individuals and families in various settings, including homes, schools, clinics, institutions, and other assigned areas. You will assess the health and nursing care needs of patients and families and provide nursing care as needed.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide health education to patients and families on topics such as dietary habits, special exercise, personal hygiene, infant care, disease prevention, and bedside care.
  2. Conduct disease investigations and participate in community-wide emergency public health preparedness activities.
  3. Makes home visits to residents for public health or other healthcare purposes.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a NYS or regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Professional Registered Nurse's License, issued by the NYS Education Department.
  • Valid license to operate a motor vehicle in NYS or demonstrate capacity to meet transportation needs.
