Role Summary:
- This is a dual-role position encompassing responsibilities of both a Unit Secretary and a Nursing Assistant. The Unit Secretary manages administrative tasks, clerical duties, and facilitates order processing within the nursing unit. The Nursing Assistant delivers patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, ensuring adherence to nursing policies and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communication and Customer Service:
Welcomes patients and visitors, ensuring a professional and pleasant interaction. Handles phone inquiries with proper etiquette and directs calls appropriately. Assists visitors in locating patient rooms and facilitates patient transport during discharge. - Order Management:
Assists healthcare professionals with accurate entry and processing of electronic orders. Monitors alerts and communicates new orders to nursing staff promptly. - Chart Management:
Ensures all patient charts are accurately labeled and organized, maintaining compliance with established policies. Prepares charts for admissions, transfers, and discharges. - Patient Care:
Provides compassionate care tailored to the needs of patients, including hygiene assistance, meal support, and vital sign monitoring. Maintains patient dignity and comfort at all times. - Documentation:
Accurately documents patient care activities using electronic and paper systems in accordance with policies. - Team Collaboration:
Communicates effectively with the nursing team and participates in interdisciplinary care discussions to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (Required)
- Certified Nurse Aide or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- 0-1 years of experience in an acute care setting or relevant clinical training preferred.
