Job Summary

As a Radiology Technologist Associate, you will play a vital role in facilitating patient care and treatment by performing a variety of patient care duties and other professional activities as needed. Under the supervision of a radiology technologist, you will assist in monitoring the flow of patient activities in the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform basic diagnostic x-rays under the supervision of a radiology technologist.
  • Identify and assist patients with questions about procedures.
  • Prepare patients for exams and ensure patient safety in the absence of the radiology technologist.
  • Obtain medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast media materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist, or registered nurse.
  • Assist physicians and technologists in the performance of diagnostic exams based on assigned modality and career pursuits.
  • Retrieve patient orders and requisitions while supporting administrative or miscellaneous work tasks in the RIS, EMR, or other standard applications required in the workflow for diagnostic exams.
  • Assist patients with ancillary clinical support needs as required.
  • Assist with administrative duties, quality assurance, safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements.

Physical Requirements

This role requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies. Occasional standing, walking, and sitting during normal operation are expected. Frequently, you may be required to stretch, bend, twist, squat, or kneel in the daily operation of the assigned clinical area. You may be exposed to various physical conditions throughout the day, such as walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs, and being near moving equipment. Required to use radiation safety guidelines to prevent exposure to ionizing radiation, MRI safety, and infection control as dictated by the procedural area.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

A high school diploma or GED with preliminary coursework toward a certificate or degree in a medical imaging field is required. Clinical experience based on the educational program affiliated with the pursuit of a career in medical imaging is preferred. Medical clerical skills are also beneficial.
