Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Event Coordinator to join our team at Michaels Stores. As an Event Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating events within our stores to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for our guests. You will also be responsible for delivering friendly customer service, helping customers shop, and ensuring all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
  • Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
  • Adjust plans and events based on client's feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Uphold the company's cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
Requirements
  • Energetic and enthusiastic personality.
  • The ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others, including guests of all ages and co-workers, are essential functions of the job.
  • Must have excellent people skills.
  • Must have experience working with children and children's events.
  • Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.
  • Must have organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Retail and/or customer service experience required.
Work Environment
  • Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to move throughout the store.
  • Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
  • Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.
