Lead Engineer for Underground Transmission Systems

This engineering role offers a unique opportunity to leverage and expand your expertise in underground transmission systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing underground transmission systems for voltages reaching up to 500kV
  • Performing cost evaluations, establishing design parameters, addressing siting and routing complexities, and positioning manholes
  • Managing physical design elements such as duct bank configurations, trenchless methodologies, cable pulling assessments, and development of drawing packages
  • Executing cable selection analyses, determining bonding strategies, and conducting ampacity assessments
  • Formulating riser structure designs and overseeing structural load management
  • Crafting specifications for cable acquisition, duct bank construction, trenchless methodologies, and overall project execution
  • Collaborating with suppliers and clients to define transmission line components
  • Leading a project team comprising engineers, designers, and drafters

This position supports a hybrid work model, allowing you to work in the office three days a week while enjoying remote work for two days. A generous relocation package may be available based on your location.

Qualifications:

Essential skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • Expertise in CYMCAP modeling
  • Background in project scheduling, budget oversight, and various underground transmission initiatives
  • Familiarity with design regulations and standards such as NESC and EPRI Green Book
  • Experience with XLPE cable design
  • Proficiency in MS Office software
  • Strong communication abilities and meticulous attention to detail

Valued skills and experience:

  • Current or potential ability to obtain a PE license within one year
  • Experience with High Pressure Gas Filled or High-Pressure Fluid Filled cable systems
  • Knowledge of underground distribution or low voltage cable systems
