UVA Health System seeks a full-time board-certified or board-eligible Renal Transplant Specialist to join our renal team in Charlottesville, VA.

The ideal candidate will possess outstanding clinical, technical, and interpersonal skills, with training from top-rated institutions. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide direct patient care and lead teams in managing recipients of kidney and pancreas transplants.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting pretransplant evaluations, performing living donor candidate evaluations, and determining the suitability of organs from medically complex deceased donors. You will participate in clinical and operational meetings, including selection committees, candidate review boards, and post-transplant reviews.

Apart from clinical duties, you are expected to engage in quality improvement projects and clinical problem-based taskforces. Additionally, you will participate in teaching programs for transplant nephrology and surgery fellows, general nephrology fellows, medical house staff, medical students, and transplant advanced practice providers and coordinators.

Schedule and Responsibilities
  • This is an open-rank, tenure-ineligible position with a flexible schedule available.
  • Call duties include 9-10 weeks per year.
  • As a full-time commitment, you will conduct 5.5-day clinics per week, focusing on both pre- and post-transplant patient care.
Hospital Coverage and Clinical Environment
  • You will work at UVA Main Hospital.
  • You will have access to comprehensive onsite equipment and ancillary services, including clinic echocardiography, a dedicated inpatient unit with ICU, a dedicated infusion center, and onsite dialysis and apheresis.

The estimated salary for this position is $250,000 - $400,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive benefits package and a collaborative work environment.
