About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and patient-focused Patient Care Specialist to join our team at the University of Virginia's Transplant Center. As a key member of our access team, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless patient scheduling, registration, and communication throughout the patient care continuum.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule multi-specialty and multi-disciplinary patient appointments efficiently and accurately.
  • Advocate for patients while coordinating support services as needed to ensure a smooth patient and family experience.
  • Investigate complex scheduling cases, document findings, and coordinate with Pre Arrival Unit to ensure authorization is in place.
  • Maintain accurate demographic and insurance information, verify patient identifiers, and ensure referrals are attached to appointments.
Key Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent required; Associates degree preferred.
  • 2 years relevant experience required; Access Associate fully cross-trained to cover multiple specialties will be considered in lieu of 2 years experience.
  • Excellent communicative skills, attention to detail, and ability to write legibly and compose messages clearly and concisely.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $22.63 per hour, based on national averages and industry standards.
