POSITION SUMMARY:
The Program Attorney serves as an educator within the judicial branch, playing a crucial role in disseminating legal knowledge and developing engaging educational programs for judges and court personnel.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate in the design, management, and execution of both in-person and virtual educational initiatives for judges, prosecutors, and court support staff;

• Deliver presentations, participate as a panelist, and moderate discussions at TMCEC events;

• Analyze feedback and data to assess, plan, and enhance program offerings;

• Conduct needs assessments to tailor curriculum to specific audiences;

• Facilitate the development and execution of educational materials;

• Identify and suggest relevant topics for seminars and workshops;

• Organize agendas and instructional content effectively;

• Recruit, prepare, and manage faculty for educational programs;

• Assist faculty in creating course materials and presentations;

• Draft correspondence and documentation for programs, including seminar descriptions, learning objectives, and applications for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits;

• Attend and oversee seminars to ensure quality delivery;

• Address legal inquiries from judges, prosecutors, and court personnel while providing technical assistance;

• Monitor legislative developments, judicial decisions, and other relevant publications to assess educational needs;

• Conduct research and write on pertinent legal topics;

• Update and draft publications for judges and court staff;

• Edit TMCEC’s print and digital materials;

• Create and produce instructional media;

• Represent TMCEC at various conferences, planning sessions, and forums; and

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.


QUALIFICATIONS:

• Exceptional attention to detail along with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities;

• Demonstrated work ethic and professionalism;

• Capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently;

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills;

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with diverse groups (e.g., judges, court staff, colleagues);

• Proficient in using computer systems for email, documentation, and reporting;

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), technology, and office equipment;

• Willingness to travel within the state; and

• Must be a licensed attorney in Texas.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Background in teaching, instructional technology, adult education, technical writing, event coordination, or project management;

• Solid understanding of procedural and substantive criminal law and the functioning of Texas criminal courts; and

• Experience as a staff attorney, criminal law practitioner, government attorney, or a demonstrated commitment to public service.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This position is full-time, requiring 40 hours per week. Employment is contingent upon passing a comprehensive background check and possessing a valid driver's license, car insurance, and reliable transportation. Salary is commensurate with experience, and benefits include employer-paid health insurance, contributions to a 403(b) plan, and a generous leave package. This position qualifies for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program, aimed at encouraging public service careers by forgiving federal student loan balances after 120 qualifying payments.
