Student Safety Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Transportation Associate at the Detroit Public Schools Community District. As a key member of our Office of Student Transportation, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of students to and from school and school-related events.
Key Responsibilities- Provide safe and efficient transportation services to students, adhering to all relevant safety protocols and procedures.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, teachers, and staff, promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
- Complete incident reports, accident reports, and attendance reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support the mission of the department by contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
- Must be 18 years old to apply.
- Ability to work a split-shift, including early morning and afternoon availability.
- Possess a strong attendance record and be reliable, responsible, and punctual.
- Function effectively as a team member, exercising positive problem-solving behavior and conflict resolution skills.
The Transportation Associate will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with students, parents, and staff on a daily basis. The position requires the ability to lift, push, or pull students on and off the bus, as well as maintain order and vigilance at all times to ensure the safe transport of students.
Security ClearanceInternal applicants do not require a new security clearance, unless their new role requires a different type of criminal background check. External applicants will be required to submit to a Detroit Public Schools Community District criminal background check, in accordance with Michigan law.
