Position Overview

The Energy & Utilities Analyst will operate under the guidance of a senior consultant or project manager to aid in crafting solutions for the technical and economic challenges faced by our energy and utility clientele. This role involves assisting with power system evaluations that assess both fossil fuel and renewable energy sources, as well as delivery infrastructures, including transmission and distribution networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts analyses and interprets engineering, financial, and economic data to fulfill assigned tasks related to technical and business implications for client projects.
  • Utilizes foundational knowledge of standard engineering and financial principles within the consulting sector.
  • Assists in evaluating life-cycle costs by formulating and integrating technical assumptions regarding capital expenditures, operational and maintenance costs, performance projections, and economic forecasts.
  • Collaborates with project teams to assess technical impacts stemming from regulations enacted by governing bodies.
  • Contributes to the design, review, and modification of project-related drawings as directed by project managers.
  • Supports power system planning and operational analysis, encompassing power flow, transient stability, short circuit analysis, electromagnetic transients, reliability assessments, and economic dispatch.
  • Engages in technical, engineering, economic, and financial studies related to utility project planning and operations.
  • Facilitates transmission and distribution study analyses using power system software tools.
  • Assists in engineering, technical, and economic evaluations for both fossil and renewable energy generation.
  • Contributes to risk assessments related to technical and business aspects.
  • Supports the development and execution of detailed financial analyses utilizing various software applications.
  • Helps prepare technical reports and presentations that summarize analytical findings.
  • Aids in the preparation of client presentations, engineering evaluations, financial analyses, and contract management for utility system design and planning.
  • Provides support to the Utility Consulting business lines as needed by clients.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to all organizational policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
  • Basic understanding of standard engineering methodologies, principles, and procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work systematically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment, demonstrating critical thinking capabilities.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exhibits strong attention to detail, teamwork, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
  • Active involvement in campus or community activities is preferred.
  • Candidates must possess legal authorization to work permanently in the country where this position is located.
