Senior Environmental Consultant in Atlanta, GA

BHI Energy is seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant to enhance our team in Atlanta, Georgia. This position will focus on the preparation of environmental documentation for various transportation initiatives.

  • Conducting thorough analysis and assessment of environmental data pertaining to cultural, social, natural, and physical resources.
  • Drafting NEPA and planning documents, including Need and Purpose Statements, Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements.
  • Ensuring that NEPA documentation adheres to relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Collaborating with sub-consultants, government entities, clients, and the community.
  • Providing guidance to clients on effective strategies for managing environmental documentation and permitting procedures.

This role may involve collaboration with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Office of Environmental Services NEPA Section.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Urban or Environmental Planning, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five to ten years of experience with NEPA requirements and document preparation.
  • Experience in drafting NEPA documentation for Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) or other federal transportation agencies.
  • Familiarity with State Departments of Transportation, particularly the GDOT Plan Development Process (PDP).
  • Proficiency in standard office software (Word and Excel).
  • Exceptional writing, communication, and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage environmental personnel.
