About the Role

At Advocates, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Care Coordinator to join our team as a Substance Misuse Recovery Support Navigator. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals struggling with substance misuse and mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage individuals in the treatment system for substance misuse problems and provide support in accessing relevant services.
  • Develop linkages with community resources that promote a sober, recovery-focused lifestyle while addressing system barriers to successful recovery.
  • Provide care navigation services to individuals with substance misuse and mental health problems to enhance treatment engagement, education, and support throughout the continuum of care.
  • Work with individuals and their families to motivate and maintain them in culturally relevant behavioral health services in their community.
  • Act as a resource for Advocates staff regarding addiction resources, treatment models, and strategies for supporting individuals in recovery.
  • Attend and actively participate in all supervisions and staff meetings.
  • Attend trainings as assigned; maintain necessary certifications and licenses.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in human services, a related field, or LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor), or a recognized certification and/or licensure to work with people with recovery-based needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of treatment for and recovery from substance use disorders.
  • Familiarity with community-based addiction services and resources in the geographic area and/or in Massachusetts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Strongly prefer a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Valid driver's license and access to an operational and insured automobile.
