The Addiction Recovery Counselor is responsible for overseeing residential staff while enhancing their capabilities in addressing intricate challenges such as dual diagnoses, substance misuse, and trauma. This role involves conducting evaluations and delivering therapeutic interventions to residents who require extra assistance due to co-occurring conditions and/or traumatic experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality assessments, individual and group therapeutic services.
  • Assist individuals served by employing techniques such as Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral for Treatment (SBIRT), Stages of Change model, Motivational Interviewing, and Harm Reduction.
  • Support clinical personnel within the team regarding Addiction Recovery matters.
  • Exhibit a proactive approach to maintaining effective communication with colleagues and clients to foster and enhance productive working relationships and customer service.
  • Ensure that therapeutic services are provided and documented in line with Advocates' clinical philosophy and all relevant licensing and regulatory standards.
  • Participate actively in assigned training sessions; maintain required certifications and licenses.
  • Engage with other community providers and related organizations, and cultivate community resources.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a behavioral science and current licensure as an LADC I. A minimum of one year of experience in a residential environment with supervisory duties is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, and prioritization skills, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks. Excellent reasoning and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, have access to a reliable and insured vehicle, and be willing to use it for client transportation.
  • Preference for candidates who demonstrate an understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
