Substance Use Recovery Coach

POSITION SUMMARY
The role involves delivering non-clinical, peer-oriented support and leading group sessions at the South Middlesex Opportunity Recovery Support Center. The primary focus is to engage, educate, and assist individuals on their journey to recovery from substance use.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Offer both individual and group support to members, including those referred and self-referred, as well as walk-ins and individuals in crisis.
- Maintain regular communication with individuals in recovery through various channels such as in-person meetings, text, email, phone, or video, using agency-provided tools.
- Develop and continuously update personalized recovery plans tailored to the specific needs of each member.
- Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping, completing all necessary ongoing paperwork.
- Uphold the confidentiality of all members, employees, and agency information in compliance with federal and state regulations and funding requirements.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings as required.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with staff and external community resources as needed.
- Provide transportation for members to relevant recovery activities when necessary.
- Adhere to program, department, agency, and funding guidelines, as well as SMOC policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Must possess personal experience with substance use and be in recovery.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of members.
- Ability to manage tasks independently and effectively.
- Completion of Recovery Coach Academy Training is required.
- A valid driver's license, dependable transportation, and the ability to transport members using agency vehicles are essential.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
- This position reports directly to the Recovery Coach Supervisor.
- There are no direct reports associated with this role.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Capability to drive.
- Ability to navigate stairs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position may be situated in a residence that may not be accessible for individuals with disabilities. Some travel with members is a requirement. The Recovery Coach will have direct or incidental contact with individuals served by SMOC across various programs funded or managed through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is mandatory. Business casual attire is expected.
