Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The role involves delivering non-clinical, peer-driven support services and leading group sessions at the South Middlesex Opportunity Recovery Support Center. The focus is on engaging, educating, and assisting individuals on their journey to recovery from substance use challenges.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Offer individual and group assistance to both referred and self-referred participants, including those in crisis.
  • Maintain regular communication with individuals through various channels such as in-person meetings, text, email, phone, or video calls using agency-provided tools.
  • Develop and routinely update personalized recovery plans tailored to the specific needs of each participant.
  • Keep precise records and files, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed in a timely manner.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of participant, employee, and agency information in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Engage in multi-disciplinary team meetings as required.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with staff and external community resources.
  • Provide transportation for participants to relevant recovery activities when necessary.
  • Adhere to program, agency, and funder guidelines, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Must possess personal experience with substance use and be in recovery.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of participants.
  • Ability to manage responsibilities and work independently.
  • Completion of Recovery Coach Academy Training is required.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are necessary, along with the capability to transport participants using agency vehicles that meet insurance criteria.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • This position reports directly to the Recovery Coach Supervisor.
  • There are no direct reports associated with this role.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Capability to drive.
  • Ability to navigate stairs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The position may involve working in settings that are not fully accessible. Some travel with participants is expected. The Recovery Coach will have direct or incidental interactions with individuals served by the agency across various programs. A successful background check is mandatory. The dress code is business casual.
