Nondestructive Testing Technician

Job Overview:
Join the team at GE Aviation as a Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting high-pressure turbine blades utilized in jet turbine engines, which are essential components in commercial aviation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct radioscopy and computed tomography inspections of aircraft engine turbine airfoils in a dynamic manufacturing setting.
- Analyze images and interpret test results in alignment with manufacturing blueprints, process specifications, and operational guidelines.
- Maintain accurate documentation of test results and preserve historical records.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate within a team environment.
- Execute daily equipment setup procedures and perform quality assurance checks.
- Carry out radiation safety assessments and complete annual radiation safety training successfully.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Current level 2 certification in radiography that complies with National Aerospace Standard (NAS) 410.
- Prior radiography training and experience, including a minimum of 80 hours of formal classroom education and 800 hours of practical radiography experience.
- Ability to set up and calibrate equipment, conduct tests, interpret, evaluate, and document findings independently.
- Demonstrated proficiency in applying geometric, trigonometric, and algebraic principles.
- Comprehensive understanding of the scope and limitations of radiographic imaging techniques.
- Successful completion of written general, specific, and practical examinations is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current level 2 certification in Digital Radiography, adhering to General Electric Quality Control Work Instruction T-049.
- At least 40 hours of digital radiography classroom training and 200 hours of digital radiographic testing experience.
- Previous experience in performing digital radiographic inspections of cast turbine airfoils.
- Experience in GE Aviation manufacturing processes.
- Certification or experience in Fluorescent Penetrant testing meeting NAS 410 level 2 standards.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
This position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Final offers will be contingent upon the ability to obtain authorization for access to such information from the U.S. Government.
