We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Design Engineer to join our team at Waveguide Communications. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the development of technical designs and solutions for our maritime and commercial clients.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and development of technical solutions for maritime and commercial projects, including site surveys, job planning, and technical drawings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that designs meet customer requirements and industry standards.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including bills of materials, scopes of work, and contractor work plans.
- Provide technical assistance and support to other design engineers and project leads as needed.
- Conduct pre- and post-project reviews to ensure that designs meet customer requirements and industry standards.
- Considerable knowledge of cabling infrastructure and electronic components required for networking.
- Considerable knowledge of marine governing bodies, such as DNV and ABS, as well as EIA/TIA codes and BICSI standards.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Project, Adobe Pro, AutoCAD, and Visio.
- Proficiency in basic electrical theory and practices.
- Understanding of rules and regulations of each job site in which the project will be performed.
- Occasional movement around the jobsite, lifting/moving equipment up to 40 lbs. or more.
- Ability to operate a variety of equipment and tools, including diagnostic and testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Minimum levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
- Ability to go through and work in very confined spaces.
- Travel to locations involving exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions for prolonged periods.
- Ability to reason and think logically.
- Ability to analyze problems and develop corrective actions.
- Ability to work with others to collectively solve problems.
- Ability to multitask several projects and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines.
- High School Diploma or GED supplemented by either an Associate's Degree in a related field or vocation training in an applicable field.
- Relevant work experience of 7 to 10 years can be substituted for an education requirement.
- Ability to travel outside the U.S. for periods up to two months.
- Financial self-sufficiency to support yourself for discretionary spending as well as incidental business expenses.
- Possession of a credit card and a U.S. bank account.
- Ability to pass a background check through local Port Authorities.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
- Ability to obtain applicable Port badge.
