Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Front Desk Registrar to join our team at The Floating Hospital. As a Medical Front Desk Registrar, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our medical team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greets patients and their families in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring a positive first impression of our hospital.
  • Schedules patients for medical appointments, verifies insurance information, and collects co-pays and sliding fee scale charges.
  • Provides thorough and accurate information to patients and their families, communicating clearly and concisely about preparation and appointment details.
  • Confirms appointments for the following day, verifying insurance and PCP information, co-pays, and balance due.
  • Recalls patients who missed prior day's appointments to attempt to reschedule, and sends letters to those who were not contacted via phone call.
  • Rectifies cash box at the end of shift, filling out cash receipts with patient information and type of payment made.
  • Obtains daily rosters from insurance companies of patients who have listed TFH providers as their PCP, and contacts them via phone or mail to inquire about making an appointment.
  • Maintains an organized and clean work and reception area, ensuring a welcoming environment for patients and staff.
  • Registers and obtains patient demographics with up-to-date information, and works with patients regarding insurance options and selecting a primary care provider.
  • Ensures that eligibility and billing-related data are current, and determines patient's insurance eligibility using ePACES and/or insurance web portal.
  • Follows up to ensure that patient's insurance enrollment or status change has been processed, and tracks patients reported barriers to receiving all services needed.
  • Answers phones with TFH greeting and relays messages to the appropriate personnel, working closely with the Billing Department and Medical, Mental Health, and Dental teams.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a high school degree or associate degree, or equivalent in training and/or experience. A minimum of two years of front desk/registration experience is required, as well as a valid NY state driver's license or non-driver ID/license. Knowledge of the New York City area, current health insurance plans, and verification of insurance eligibility is also necessary. Customer service experience, attention to detail, reliability, and resourcefulness are essential qualities for this role. Bilingual Spanish speaking is required.
