Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Communications Technician I to join our team at the Texas Department of Public Safety. As a key member of our telecommunications team, you will be responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining voice, data, and digital telecommunications systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and configure mobile radios and in-car video systems
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of telecommunications equipment
  • Install and configure data signaling driven emergency equipment
  • Provide field support in response to natural and man-made disasters
  • Transport vehicles to various locations to meet agency needs
  • Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of experience with installation of after-market equipment in vehicles
  • Knowledge of fundamental electrical theory, electronics, and automotive electrical systems
  • Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot two-way radio equipment and emergency lighting equipment
  • Valid driver's license from the state of residence
