Job Description

Job Summary

The Patient Accounts Representative plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our revenue cycle at Del Amo Behavioral Health System. This position is responsible for verifying patient insurance information, securing insurance benefits, and processing payments in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify patient insurance information and secure insurance benefits
  • Process payments and prepare bank deposits
  • Review explanation of benefits and apply contractual adjustments
  • Prepare daily cash reports and submit refund requests
  • Consistently review and update patient information to ensure accuracy
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to resolve billing and insurance-related issues
  • Stay up-to-date on changing insurance policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with the Business Office Director to resolve complex billing and insurance issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the revenue cycle team

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent required
  • Previous training in insurance verification required
  • Two years insurance collections in a hospital setting required
  • Effective telephone techniques and listening skills required
  • Working knowledge of insurance terms, reimbursement procedures, medical terminology, and hospital services, rates, and policies relating to collection activities required

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive patient information.
