Position Overview: We are currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager who will play a crucial role in supporting the Project Manager throughout the lifecycle of various projects. This position involves planning, organizing, and coordinating activities within the construction timeline, while also monitoring job progress and addressing field issues as they arise. This entry-level role offers significant opportunities for professional growth within our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in organizing, scheduling, budgeting, and implementing project specifications.
  • Adapt to a dynamic work environment to facilitate effective field installations.
  • Review contracts and bid documents, ensuring a clear understanding of project scope post-turnover.
  • Support project document control, including insurance, bonding, permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and correspondence.
  • Ensure that all documents are centrally stored in the designated project document control software.
  • Verify that accurate drawings are distributed to the field teams.
  • Assist in preparing billing formats as required by contract documents.
  • Request purchase orders for major equipment and subcontractors, specifying shipping requirements and anticipated delivery dates.
  • Facilitate material takeoffs in collaboration with trade foremen.
  • Participate in necessary meetings with internal and external stakeholders to discuss scheduling, delivery, work plans, job progress, manpower, and solutions to any setbacks.
  • Support the accounting department with monthly billings and collections, following up on outstanding balances while applying construction finance practices.
  • Collaborate with foremen to ensure project safety through toolbox talks and weekly walkthroughs.
  • Gather information for changes in work and communicate with estimating for pricing adjustments.
  • Ensure that no work commences prior to receiving the necessary approvals or notices to proceed.
  • Assist field personnel in the project closeout process.
  • Obtain as-built drawings from the field and request CAD files from engineering.
  • Escalate critical issues to the Project Manager with suggested resolutions.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

1+ year of relevant experience in the construction industry is advantageous.

Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on engineering or construction management is preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project) is required.

Familiarity with AutoCAD/BIM and other mechanical or construction-related software is beneficial.
