Position Overview: We are currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager to assist the Project Manager in overseeing projects from inception to completion. This role involves planning, organizing, and coordinating activities within the construction timeline, while actively monitoring job progress and addressing any field issues that may arise. This entry-level position offers significant opportunities for professional growth within our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation of project specifications.
  • Adapt to a dynamic work environment to facilitate effective field installations.
  • Review contract and bid documents post-estimation; comprehend project scope after turnover and participate in site walk-throughs.
  • Assist in managing project documentation, including insurance, bonding, permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and correspondence.
  • Ensure all documents are stored centrally in the designated project document control software.
  • Verify the distribution of accurate drawings to field personnel.
  • Assist with the preparation of billing formats as required by contract documents.
  • Request purchase orders for major equipment and subcontractors, detailing shipping requirements and anticipated delivery dates.
  • Facilitate material takeoffs with trade foremen.
  • Participate in necessary meetings with internal and external stakeholders to discuss scheduling, delivery, work plans, job progress, manpower, and solutions to challenges.
  • Support the accounting department with monthly billing and collections, following up on outstanding balances using construction finance practices.
  • Collaborate with foremen to ensure project safety through regular toolbox talks and site walk-throughs.
  • Gather information for changes in work and relay to estimating for pricing.
  • Ensure no work commences without proper approval or notice to proceed.
  • Assist field personnel in project closeout procedures.
  • Obtain as-built drawings from the field and request CAD documentation from engineering.
  • Escalate critical issues to the Project Manager with suggested resolutions.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

1+ year of relevant experience in the construction industry is advantageous.

Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or construction management is preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project) is required.

Familiarity with AutoCAD/BIM and other mechanical or construction software is beneficial.
