Role Summary

The Judicial Administrative Assistant plays a crucial role in managing misdemeanor and felony cases for jury trials and those held to answer in Superior Court. Responsibilities include drafting legal documents, correspondence, and discovery requests. The assistant supports attorneys by preparing court documents, transcribing recordings, and creating jury instructions and motions. Additional duties involve proofreading and finalizing various legal documents, maintaining records and calendars, and electronically filing documents with the courts. Collaboration with local law enforcement for the preparation of search and arrest warrants is also a key aspect of this role.

Current Opportunity: We are currently seeking one full-time Judicial Administrative Assistant I or II. Candidates meeting the qualifications may also be considered for future openings across various departments within the County.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and adept at managing multiple priorities. They should possess strong written and verbal communication skills, a solid work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. A collaborative spirit and the ability to foster positive relationships with colleagues and external partners are essential.

Qualifications

Knowledge of:
  • Legal terminology, forms, and procedures.
  • Relevant computer applications.
  • Basic arithmetic and standard office practices.
  • Correct business English, including spelling and grammar.
Ability to:
  • Draft and review legal documents accurately.
  • Learn and apply office policies and procedures.
  • Conduct research and compile information.
  • Maintain organized legal files.

Minimum Qualifications

Legal Secretary I: Two years of clerical experience in a legal or court setting, including experience with legal documents.

Legal Secretary II: One year of legal secretarial experience.

Special Requirements

Positions may require a background investigation for access to specific legal systems.

Hybrid Work Schedule: The District Attorney's Office supports a hybrid work model, allowing for some remote work while requiring in-person attendance for meetings and assignments as necessary.
