San Francisco, California, United States Judicial Branch of California Full time

The Judicial Council of California seeks a highly skilled Senior Analyst to join its team in the Center for Families, Children & the Courts.

This critical role will serve as lead staff to the Sargent Shriver Civil Counsel Implementation Committee, overseeing the distribution of approximately $17 million annually to legal services agencies and the courts.

The Senior Analyst will also serve as a liaison to the Legal Services Trust Fund Commission, working closely with the administration of the Equal Access Fund, which includes approximately $200 million in regular grants.

Key responsibilities include grants oversight, creating grant management guidelines, and conducting compliance reviews.

The successful candidate will review and analyze data submitted by grantees, preparing quarterly and annual reports required by the Department of Finance on Equal Access Funds.

This role requires collaboration with subject matter expert attorneys to identify needs for legal education and resources, ensuring high-quality services are provided to the public.

The incumbent will also draft contracts and agreements related to these programs, reviewing grant applications and reports, and developing analyses for the Shriver committee.

This is an exciting opportunity to work independently with limited supervision, providing lead direction for other staff members.

The Judicial Council of California is the policy-setting body for the state court system, with constitutionally conferred statewide rule-making authority.

This authority includes developing, advocating for, and allocating the judicial branch budget.

A majority of Council members are California state justices and judges, with the Council also including lawyers, legislators, and court administrators.

The Judicial Council's staff organization seeks to continue evolving as one of California's most dynamic public service entities, focused on improving access to justice for all Californians.

As a government body charged with improving the statewide administration of justice, the Judicial Council has multiple offices with diverse responsibilities relating to court policy and operations.

The Judicial Council strives for work-life balance, offering an excellent benefits package, including pension, medical, dental, and vision coverage, flexible spending, and retirement savings plans.

The office is conveniently located in San Francisco and Sacramento, with hybrid work arrangements available for many positions.

The successful candidate will be expected to work in person on Wednesdays at the Judicial Council's San Francisco or Sacramento office and reside in the surrounding areas.
