Process Safety Engineer

Infinitek Limited is seeking a highly experienced Process Safety Engineer to join our team of experts in helping clients identify hazards and improve their process safety and risk management performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) projects for clients, primarily within the U.S., with potential international engagements.
  • Document PHAs, LOPAs, and related consulting tasks, particularly in the refining industry.
  • Collaborate directly with clients, providing clear communication of technical requirements and deliverables.
  • Interpret technical drawings such as P&IDs, PFDs, and Cause & Effect Charts.
  • Prepare, facilitate, and write recommendations and reports based on PHA results.
  • Select appropriate PHA methodologies based on process complexity and risks involved.
  • Ensure all scenarios, consequences, safeguards, and recommendations are accurately captured and reported.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in process safety, with in-depth knowledge of OSHA's PSM standard (29 CFR and/or EPA's RMP rule (40 CFR 68).
  • Experience in the oil, gas, or petrochemical industries, with refinery experience preferred.
  • Proven record of facilitating at least 20 PHAs, with 3 or more including LOPA evaluations.
  • Proficiency in using commercial PHA software programs (e.g., PHA-Pro, Leader) and Microsoft Word.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and technical writing skills.
  • Experience leading PHA teams and facilitating group meetings.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, primarily within Texas and Louisiana.
  • Knowledge of safety systems (Fire & Gas, Deluge, ESD) and safeguards.
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card and conduct remote client meetings via WebEx, Teams, etc.
