SUMMARY: The primary focus of this role is to enhance the efficiency, quality, and reliability of Injection Molding machinery through the development and refinement of processes, tooling, and mold designs.

Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with the Technical Team to implement new mold designs, tooling, and processes that align with or surpass customer expectations.

2. Establish scientifically-based processes and create documentation to ensure consistent quality and efficiency in line with defined process specifications.

3. Offer engineering insights on new designs to ensure process capability and participate in mold design evaluations prior to production.

4. Provide technical assistance to manufacturing for capability challenges, technical enhancements, and daily operational tasks.

5. Engage with auxiliary equipment supporting molding operations, including robots and pickers.

6. Lead or contribute to cross-functional teams aimed at achieving operational objectives.

7. Supervise and mentor Molding Technicians and production mechanics.

8. Conduct training sessions for employees, provide performance feedback, and manage work assignments as necessary.

9. Support injection molding process control and capability by applying scientific molding principles.

10. Facilitate the implementation of RJG Scientific/Decoupled Molding methodologies.

11. Drive improvements in molding processes, focusing on cycle time efficiency, cavitation, scrap reduction, and optimal processing parameters.

12. Provide technical support for new tooling qualifications and process capability assessments.

13. Assist in process enhancements, minimizing downtime, reducing costs, and participating in corrective action initiatives.

14. Aid in the setup, repair, and troubleshooting of Injection Molding equipment.

15. Uphold the company's safety, quality, and productivity standards.

16. Assist in coordinating the processing aspects of mold transfers from other facilities.

17. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Plastics Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. In-depth knowledge of the plastic injection molding process, machinery, and resins such as PP, HDPE, and PS.

3. Familiarity with Hot Runner Designs and high cavitation strip and unscrewing molds.

4. Understanding and application of scientific molding principles.

5. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.

6. Knowledge of automation technologies, including robots and vision systems.

7. Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

8. Proficient in reading and interpreting professional and technical documents.

9. Capable of effectively presenting information and addressing inquiries from employees, management, and clients.

10. Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel), database management, email, and internet research.

11. Excellent communication skills and demonstrated leadership capabilities.

12. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment.

13. Physically capable of mobility tasks, including walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds as needed.

14. Visual acuity to distinguish color variations and detect defects.

15. Ability to work safely in a production environment with moving mechanical parts, recognizing various sounds and alarms.
