Job Overview:
The role of the Educational Support Specialist is focused on aiding in the oversight and instruction of students with mild to moderate disabilities under the guidance of a certified educator. This position involves monitoring and documenting student development, executing instructional plans, and catering to specific health care requirements of students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Modify classroom tasks, assignments, and materials as directed by the teacher to ensure all special education students can engage in learning activities.
  • Support related service professionals as needed to facilitate the application of therapeutic routines and strategies.
  • Provide one-on-one assistance to special education students with academic and daily living skills to foster a constructive approach to addressing individual challenges.
  • Collaborate with the teacher to develop tailored strategies that reinforce skills and content based on each student's unique needs and interests.
  • Deliver academic instruction assigned by the teacher to individuals or small groups, aligning with IEP goals and district standards.
  • Implement behavioral strategies designed by the IEP team for students with behavioral challenges to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Instruct special education students in various subjects and skills to ensure they meet their educational objectives.
  • Maintain instructional materials and student records to ensure the availability of resources and accurate documentation.
  • Supervise special education students during various activities to promote a safe and positive learning atmosphere.
  • Participate in data collection and reporting for compliance with educational programs.
  • Perform clerical tasks to assist the teacher in maintaining necessary records and materials.
  • Respond to emergencies to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to assess student progress and implement IEP objectives.

Qualifications:
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to perform various non-technical tasks and adapt to evolving job requirements. Essential skills include adherence to safety protocols, proficiency in standard office equipment, and accurate record-keeping. Knowledge of instructional methods, child development, and conflict resolution is crucial. The candidate should also demonstrate flexibility, effective communication, and teamwork abilities.

Experience:
Relevant job experience is required.

Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary.

Certifications:
CPR/First Aid Certification is required.

Clearances:
A Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance is mandatory.

Working Environment:
The position involves physical demands such as lifting, carrying, and significant mobility, typically performed in a safe and clean environment.
