Position Overview:
This role involves overseeing the clinical education of veterinary students.

This position is intended for instructional academic staff within health sciences and related fields that include clinical practice.

Individuals in this role may possess qualifications and training similar to faculty members. Approval from an academic department is required for clinical titles.

Academic Titles:
Modified professorial roles are categorized into four levels:
Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor.

The specific criteria for each title level are determined by the respective academic unit.

It is essential that the distinctions between each level reflect measurable differences in experience and expertise relevant to the duties of the position.


Key Responsibilities:


The role encompasses didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction for veterinary medical students, involvement in patient diagnostics through various imaging techniques such as radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, as well as mentoring residents and providing continuing education for veterinarians.

The expected distribution of responsibilities for the clinical track is as follows:

  • Clinical Practice: 40-50%
  • Non-Clinical Teaching: 15%
  • Research: 30-40%
  • Service: 5%

Clinical duties are anticipated to range from 22 to 26 weeks, with up to 15-20 lectures and 20-30 hours of laboratory instruction.

Educational Requirements:
Required:
Terminal Degree
DVM - Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or an equivalent qualification.

Qualifications:
Completion of residency training in Radiology/Diagnostic Imaging is required by the start date.

Board certification or eligibility for certification in the American College of Veterinary Radiology or the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging is mandatory at the time of commencement.

Candidates should show a dedication to developing an academic program that emphasizes Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging.

Licensure/Certification:

Wisconsin Veterinary License

Eligibility to obtain and maintain licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Wisconsin is necessary at the time of commencement.

Current faculty members are all Diplomates of the ACVR, with two holding additional certifications in specialized areas.

A state-of-the-art large animal CT unit, developed at the University, provides high-resolution imaging for various veterinary applications.
