OVERVIEW:

The Early Childhood Education Coach offers tailored coaching and individualized support to educators and program administrators working with children from birth to grade three. This role involves facilitating professional development workshops aimed at enhancing teaching practices. The coaching model employed is a cyclical approach that fosters effective teaching strategies, leading to improved outcomes for children. This process thrives on collaborative partnerships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The main duties for this position encompass, but are not limited to:

Coaching
  • Delivers customized coaching and technical support to early learning facilities, aiding them in program enhancements, including comprehension of CLASS domains, Louisiana's Early Learning Standards, and effective implementation of Tier 1 curriculum.
  • Establishes and nurtures supportive relationships with educators and program leaders, collaborating to meet individual and program objectives.
  • Conducts training sessions, observations, evaluations, consultations, and modeling, both in-person and online, utilizing the Practice-Based Coaching Model from the National Center on Quality Teaching and Learning (NCQTL).
  • Assists early childhood programs in performing classroom evaluations and formulating action plans based on findings, ensuring follow-up assessments and guidance.
  • Stays informed about Louisiana's childcare regulations and the Louisiana Department of Education's expectations.
  • Collects and analyzes data to develop personalized action plans for educators and leaders.
  • Completes necessary documentation related to coaching in a timely manner.
  • Submits regular reports detailing accomplished activities.
Professional Development and Training
  • Responsible for organizing and leading professional development workshops focusing on various early childhood topics, particularly those related to GOLD, CLASS, and Louisiana's Early Learning Standards.
  • Collaborates with the Continuing Education and Professional Development team to assess the professional development needs of educators and leaders.
  • Maintains certifications as a Pathways certified trainer and reliable observer for Infant, Toddler, and Pre-K CLASS, as well as TS GOLD inter-rater reliability.
General Responsibilities
  • Engages in additional opportunities created through contracts or grants from educational and philanthropic partners.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
  • An Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field; a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Family & Consumer Science, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with young children as an educator or instructional coach in an early childhood setting.
  • Achieve TS Gold Inter-Rater Reliability, CLASS certification for Infants, Toddlers, and Preschool, and obtain Pathways Trainer Certification within the initial months of employment.
  • Exhibits a commitment to continuous improvement and lifelong learning to support all children and educators.
  • Experience in formulating SMART goals and developing action plans for adult learners is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, educators, and leaders, fostering a professional community of adult learners.
  • Willingness to travel for meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Possesses excellent knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and child development.
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive for data-driven decision-making.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled meetings with staff and community partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical capability to engage with children and model behaviors for educators.
