Job Profile
The Accounting Policy team, part of the Corporate Controller division within PNC Finance, is seeking to enhance its capabilities by adding a strategic member to the group. This role reports directly to the Senior Accounting Manager of Accounting Policy and plays a crucial leadership role with significant visibility to the Controller's and CFO's leadership teams.
A successful candidate will possess the ability to navigate diverse business activities and collaborate effectively with colleagues across various functions within PNC. This individual will develop a comprehensive understanding of PNC's finance and accounting processes, applying a solid foundation in technical accounting. This position offers long-term growth opportunities within the Accounting Policy team or other areas within Finance.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills, a robust technical accounting background—preferably with experience in the banking sector—and a strong work ethic. They will also exhibit the ability to collaborate with management, peers, and stakeholders to drive effective change.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Collaborate closely with PNC Finance personnel to review and analyze significant, complex business transactions, ensuring proper technical accounting treatment and consolidated reporting under US GAAP.
• Monitor and influence the development and implementation of emerging accounting requirements from regulatory bodies.
1.) Formulate independent opinions and provide updates on emerging accounting issues for discussion with senior management.
2.) Engage proactively with business lines to assess impacts and participate in the accounting standard-setting process, advocating for the company's positions on relevant issues.
• Lead initiatives to define the company's application of new accounting standards and regulatory reporting matters.
1.) Design and communicate updates to corporate accounting policies, assessing risks and mitigation strategies related to policy changes.
Other Responsibilities Include:
1.) Continuously evaluate departmental processes and recommend improvements.
2.) Establish strong partnerships with external auditors and regulators.
3.) Support business initiatives requiring technical accounting expertise.
Position Requirements:
• 5+ years of professional accounting experience, including significant exposure at a large public accounting firm or in the accounting policy team of a leading financial institution.
• Experience in policy development and technical accounting research is highly preferred.
• A Bachelor’s Degree is required; CPA certification is preferred.
• Demonstrated initiative to influence and drive results within a complex organization.

Job Description
- Lead specialized accounting and analytical expertise in support of centralized accounting functions.
- Oversee the review and analysis of complex transactions, researching applicable accounting and regulatory guidance.
- Participate in project teams, preparing accounting memoranda and presentations related to new accounting pronouncements.
- Provide accounting expertise for financial reporting activities, supporting both Finance and business service partners.
- Assist in the development and training of staff on generally accepted accounting principles and compliance matters.
