Ophthalmology Faculty Position

The National Medical Association is actively seeking qualified candidates for multiple academic positions in the field of Ophthalmology. We are looking for board-certified or board-eligible ophthalmologists or optometrists specializing in various clinical areas, including but not limited to: Glaucoma, Uveitis, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Retina/Vitreoretina, Pediatrics, Oculoplastics, and Cornea. These roles are available at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, depending on the qualifications of the selected candidates.

We are particularly interested in individuals who possess an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree, including OD, in a relevant discipline.

  • University Medical Line: Candidates will be evaluated based on their excellence in clinical care, teaching, scholarly activities that enhance clinical medicine, and contributions to institutional service.
  • Clinician Educator Line: The primary criterion for appointment is excellence in clinical care, teaching, and administrative or scholarly contributions.

Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidates.

Subspecialty Searches:

  • Glaucoma: Completion of a glaucoma fellowship is required, along with board certification or eligibility.
  • Uveitis: Candidates should have completed a uveitis or medical retina fellowship.
  • Neuro-Ophthalmology: A completed neuro-ophthalmology fellowship is expected.
  • Vitreoretinal: A clinical/surgical vitreoretinal fellowship is necessary.
  • Pediatrics: Completion of a clinical/surgical pediatric fellowship is required.
  • Oculoplastics: Candidates should have completed a clinical/surgical oculoplastic fellowship.
  • Cornea: A clinical/surgical cornea fellowship is necessary.
  • Optometry: Candidates must be eligible for or possess a CA optometry license.
