Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Critical Care/ER Tech to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Critical Care/ER Tech, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our emergency department and critical care staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist emergency department and critical care staff with technical, direct patient care skills, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.
  • Provide support to nurses in the care and discharge of patients, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
  • Transport patients to and from ancillary departments and admitted patients to their assigned rooms, maintaining a safe and efficient environment.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of storage areas and preparation of equipment and sterile trays used in the department/unit, maintaining a high level of hygiene and safety.
  • Anticipate and solve routine daily problems/events, demonstrating a proactive and solution-focused approach.
  • Commit to teaching and learning, staying up-to-date with the latest techniques and best practices in patient care.
  • Support and adapt to changes consistent with operating goals, demonstrating a commitment to the organization's mission and values.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with completion of PCA class/SA class within 6 months of hire.
  • Certified Nurse Assistant or equivalent experience and/or one year phlebotomy experience and/or one year respiratory care experience and/or EKG experience.
  • Basic computer knowledge is preferred, with ability to communicate with others and demonstrate courteous and professional interpersonal skills.
  • CPR Certification within 6 months of employment.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work rotating shifts any day of the week, including holidays, and be willing to be called off based on unit demands.
  • Exposure to various contagious diseases, radiation, chemical, caustic materials, electrical equipment, and hazards associated with their use.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance, with patient handling equipment expected to be used for patient lifts over 35 pounds or when the patient is unable to assist with the lift.
