Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Obstetrical Technician to join our team at Advocate Health. As an Obstetrical Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Labor and Delivery unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are available.
  • Function as a member of the surgical team, assisting the surgeon and other team members in gowning, gloving, and draping the surgical field.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon, ensuring all necessary items are readily available on the sterile field.
  • Participate in maintaining the readiness of the Operating Room and Birthing Room, including restocking supplies and reporting any malfunctions.
  • Provide care for antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum patients under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program, EMT certification, or a Certified Nursing Assistant educated in a hospital-based orientation program with at least 1 year experience in an L & D unit.
  • Ability to work well with internal and external customers, fine motor skills, and auditory skills that allow you to hear individuals whose speech may be muffled.
  • CPR certification.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations.
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases.
  • Heavy lifting in accordance with DOL definition.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and day of the week, including holidays, and take call as needed.
