Director of Partnership Accounting

About the Role

MassMutual is seeking a highly skilled Director of Partnership Accounting to lead our Investment Controllership team. As a key partner and representative to the investment accounting processes, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close cycles for complex investment accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close cycles for complex investment accounting.
  • Develop, document, and assure adherence to an internal control framework that ensures accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Develop and lead various initiatives focusing on increasing efficiency and adding value.
  • Analyze trends and results, use strong business acumen and communication skills to collaborate with peers and the financial reporting team to draft and contribute to commentary that enables readers to quickly understand how performance is impacting financial results.
  • Responsible for review, accuracy, and timely completion of Partnership footnotes and NAIC schedules.
  • Perform frequent ad hoc analysis and assist with special projects as requested.
  • Execute on process re-design as a result of the increase in our investment strategies and development of analytics for quarterly partnership results.
  • Serve as the point of contact for external auditors on all partnership-related matters.
  • Effectively collaborate with accounting policy, the chief Investment office, tax, financial reporting, capital management, and business unit controllers.
  • Lead the research and implementation of new statutory and GAAP investment accounting requirements and determines the accounting process for new investments and investment-related transactions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in Alternative Investment Accounting, with direct experience in private equity, venture capital, or hedge fund accounting.
  • 1+ years of experience leading teams in a deliverable-oriented environment.
