Job Overview
The Patient Support Specialist I plays a crucial role in enhancing the overall patient experience while ensuring comfort and safety within the healthcare environment. Care is delivered in alignment with the principles of patient-centered care, fostering a collaborative relationship between patients, their families, and the healthcare team. This approach is tailored to meet the diverse cultural and age-specific needs of our patients.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties: Executes clinical tasks as assigned by the Registered Nurse, adhering to the delegation guidelines set forth by the Ohio Board of Nursing. Demonstrates proficiency in clinical skills as outlined in the PCA Core Skills Competency Checklist. Safeguards patient confidentiality and maintains operational integrity by protecting sensitive patient information.
Leadership & Accountability: Exhibits essential behavioral competencies as defined by Nursing Leadership for Patient Support Specialists—effectively communicates, prioritizes customer service, adapts to change, collaborates with team members to address challenges, and takes responsibility for personal actions and professional growth.
Safety and Environment: Ensures individual patient and unit safety is prioritized and maintained.
Comfort and Hygiene: Assists patients with comfort and personal hygiene needs, documenting care in accordance with established policies.
Communication: Guides patients and families through the healthcare facility, facilitating effective communication throughout the patient's stay.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
No prior experience required (0-1 years)
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS:
Certification in AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is required prior to patient interaction.
Other Credentials: None required or preferred.
